Well, foremost and importantly, this blog is lame. I've let a lot of people down (along with myself) with not updating this thing. And since the racing is starting up again, I'll get back to business.
The racing started 2 weekends ago with the Mentor and Schabobele RRs. Mentor was a 60 mile rolling out and back course. Now, I had never done a race like this before. The course wasn't different, and the riders were the same. It was different because I never had to go to the front, not once. Only because Jake Rytlewski sat on the front and pulled for the entire race. Yeah, Jake is one of those undiscovered American talents, but he surely is making a name for himself with an overall win at Fitchburg in the pros, and a 2nd(?) overall in the Tour of the Bahamas. I cramped up in the last few miles and hung in for the finish, while JOE KUKOLLA almost won the darned thing! He won the field sprint but ran out of room to catch the IU guys that went off the front with .5 miles to go. Very nice!
Schobobele. Enough said. It was cold and rainy. Only about 20 guys showed up for today, but it was still meant to be an intense race. Just as expected, Jake went off the front in the first few miles, never to be seen again. I went off in a group of 4 guys, and the group stayed away for the rest of the race.....Too bad I had a flat half way through. Joe also had a mechanical and we were forced to head on home. I guess it just was not meant to be.
Great weekend of racing overall. Could have been better, could have been worse.
Next up....... L Esprit and Arnold
